The CT Technologist performs routine and specialized imaging procedures, prepares patients, assists radiologists, and operates CT equipment. Key responsibilities include positioning patients, ensuring image quality, assisting during procedures, performing quality assurance, maintaining equipment cleanliness, processing images, and handling routine office tasks. The role requires adherence to hospital standards, effective communication with patients and staff, and the ability to work in emergency situations. Education requirements include graduation from an accredited radiography program, New York State Department of Health licensure, ARRT registration, and BLS certification. Core competencies include teamwork, adaptability, communication skills, problem-solving, planning, attention to detail, judgment, and stress tolerance. Physical demands involve remaining stationary for extended periods, moving patients, and operating equipment. The work environment may expose the technologist to chemicals necessary for tasks.
