Position Summary
The Multi Modality Technologist works under the supervision of the Radiology Sr. Tech/ Technical Manager, or designee and is responsible for performing a combination of multiple modality imaging in the areas of Interventional Radiology, MRI, X-Ray, CT, Nuclear Medicine, and OR C-Arm guided procedures (based on their specialties). The role of the Advanced Imaging Technologist is to support operational needs and logistics and maintains quality and throughput to achieve the highest level of clinical quality and patient care possible. The Advanced Imaging Technologist is required to work in at least two advanced modalities 50% of the time.
The main responsibilities for this position include:
Patient Preparation and Positioning: Ensure correct positioning for specific imaging examinations, adhering to protocol requirements and proper documentation.
Image Quality Assurance: Produce high-quality technical images, reviewing completed scans for accuracy and completeness.
Physician Assistance: Support physicians during biopsy procedures as needed.
On-Call Rotation: Participate in on-call rotations, particularly in Interventional Radiology (IR) and X-Ray for Operating Room (OR) support.
Quality Control and Calibration: Perform quality assurance, calibrations, and QA/QC testing as required by regulatory agencies.
Adaptability: Respond effectively to emergent procedures or situations within the department.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories; report malfunctioning equipment and failed QC to Supervisor/Manager.
Contrast Injections: Administer contrast injections as required.
Administrative Duties: Handle routine office tasks, including answering phones, checking previous reports/films, documenting patient information, and utilizing EMR and PACS systems.
Communication: Notify appropriate staff upon exam completion to ensure timely start of subsequent cases; professionally communicate with patients and family members to address questions or concerns.
Patient Care: Provide care tailored to the age, physical, and psychosocial needs of various patient populations, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups.
Supply Management: Ensure all necessary medical-surgical supplies are ordered, circulated properly to avoid expiration, and stocked for all cases in each designated area/modality.
Professional Development: Attend staff meetings and in-services; may be assigned as instructor or preceptor.
Additional Duties: Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
The Radiologic Technologist must be graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital base program.
NYS DOH license is required.
NYS Contrast Media Injection license is required.
Advanced ARRT certification required, CT, IR, MRI, MRSO, ARDMS or NMTCB.
Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period.
BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
Radiation dose pledge completed for both Image Wisely/Image Gently through the American College of Radiology (ACR), either during the orientation period or before end of the probationary period.
